How Can I Change My Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card Online?

Published in Aadhaar Updates 2 mins read

Unfortunately, you cannot change your mobile number in your Aadhaar card online.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) does not permit online mobile number updates for security reasons. To update your mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, you must use one of the following methods:

  1. Visit an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre: This is the most common and reliable method.

    • Locate your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre using the UIDAI website's locator tool.
    • Visit the centre and fill out the Aadhaar Update Form.
    • Submit the form and provide your biometrics for authentication.
    • You do not need to provide any documents for mobile number updates.
    • You will be charged a nominal fee for the update. You will receive an acknowledgement slip with an Update Request Number (URN). Keep this safe as you can use it to track the update status online.
  2. Through Postman:

    • Contact India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) to enquire if they offer Aadhaar mobile number update services at your location through postmen.
    • If available, a postman will visit your location and assist with the update process.

Why Online Update is Not Available:

The UIDAI prioritizes the security and privacy of your Aadhaar data. Requiring physical authentication or in-person verification helps prevent unauthorized changes and safeguards your identity.

Important Points to Remember:

  • You do not need your old mobile number to update your new mobile number.
  • Providing a mobile number with your Aadhaar has several benefits, including online access to Aadhaar services, OTP verification, and the ability to download your e-Aadhaar.
  • Always use the official UIDAI website (https://uidai.gov.in/) to find accurate information and avoid fraudulent websites.
