Published in AdBlock Custom Filters 2 mins read

Adding custom filters to AdBlock allows you to block specific ads or page elements that aren't covered by the standard filter lists.

Adding a custom filter in AdBlock is a straightforward process, involving accessing the extension's options and pasting the filter rule. Here are the steps:

  1. Locate the AdBlock Icon: Click the AdBlock icon visible on your web browser's toolbar.
  2. Open Options: From the dropdown menu that appears, click the gear symbol. This icon typically represents settings or options.
  3. Access Customize Tab: On the AdBlock options menu that opens, select the tab labeled Customize.
  4. Edit Filters: Within the Customize tab, find and click the Edit button. This action will open a field specifically for custom filters.
  5. Paste and Save: In the provided field, paste the filter exactly as given. You also have the option here to delete any unwanted filters that may be present. After making your changes, click the Save button to apply the new custom filter(s).

Custom filters use specific syntax to tell AdBlock exactly what to block or hide on a webpage. By adding these rules, you gain finer control over your browsing experience, blocking elements not caught by default lists.
