To add viewports, including a second one, within a layout, you typically utilize the viewport configuration settings available after accessing the layout tab.
Adding additional viewports allows you to display different views of your model space geometry simultaneously within a single layout. This is particularly useful for presenting multiple angles, details, or scaled versions of your design on a sheet.
Here's how you can add viewports based on the standard method described:
- Click a layout tab. Navigate to the desired layout tab where you want to add the viewport(s).
- Access the Viewports dialog box: Look for options related to viewports, often found within the layout or view ribbon tabs. This will open the Viewports dialog box.
- Go to the New Viewports tab: Within the dialog box, locate and select the "New Viewports" tab.
- Select a Configuration: Under "standard viewports", choose a viewport configuration from the list that meets your needs. To add a second viewport, you would select a configuration like "Two Vertical" or "Two Horizontal". Other options like "Three" or "Four" viewports are also available.
- Choose the Setup: Under "Setup", select either 2D or 3D.
- Selecting 2D provides standard plan views.
- Selecting 3D automatically applies a set of standard 3D views (like Top, Front, SW Isometric, etc.) to each viewport in the configuration you selected.
Once you have selected the configuration and setup, you can usually click OK, and the chosen viewport layout will be created on your layout tab. You can then adjust the size and position of the viewports as needed and set the desired view and scale within each.
Adding viewports this way creates a structured layout of multiple viewing areas on your sheet, enhancing your drawing presentation.
