Adenomyosis can cause the uterus to grow significantly in size, sometimes becoming two or three times larger than it was before.
When adenomyosis occurs, endometrial tissue grows into the muscular wall of the uterus (myometrium). This can lead to a number of changes, including:
- Uterine Enlargement: The uterus can become significantly enlarged.
- Pain: Pelvic pain, especially during menstruation, is common.
- Heavy Bleeding: Prolonged or heavy menstrual bleeding may occur.
Treatments for adenomyosis, such as medications and surgical procedures, are available to alleviate these symptoms.
