How to Duplicate a Frame in Adobe Animate?

Published in Adobe Animate 2 mins read

To duplicate a frame in Adobe Animate, you can copy and paste frames. Here's how:

  1. Select the Frame(s) and Layers: Make sure to select all the frames you want to duplicate across all relevant layers. You can do this by clicking and dragging across the timeline, or by holding Shift and clicking to select a range of frames. Ensure you've selected all layers that contain content you want to duplicate.

  2. Copy the Frames: Right-click on any of the selected frames in the timeline.

  3. Choose "Copy Frames": From the context menu that appears, select "Copy Frames."

  4. Select the Destination: Click on the frame in the timeline where you want to insert the duplicated frame(s). This will be the starting point of the duplicated sequence.

  5. Paste the Frames: Right-click on the destination frame.

  6. Choose "Paste Frames": From the context menu, select "Paste Frames." This will insert the copied frames after the selected frame.

Alternative Method: Using "Insert Keyframe"

While copying and pasting is ideal for duplicating a range of frames, for a single frame:

  1. Select the frame you want to duplicate.
  2. Select the next frame where you want the duplication to occur.
  3. Press F6. This inserts a new keyframe with the same content as the previous frame. This effectively duplicates the frame's content to the new location on the timeline.
