How do I use the symmetry tool in Adobe Fresco?

Published in Adobe Fresco 2 mins read

The symmetry tool in Adobe Fresco allows you to create mirrored artwork easily. Here's how to use it:

  1. Access the Symmetry Tool: Look for the symmetry icon within the Adobe Fresco toolbar. It usually resembles a butterfly or mirrored image.

  2. Activate the Symmetry: Tap the symmetry icon to activate the tool. This will bring up a symmetry guide on your canvas.

  3. Choose a Symmetry Type: Fresco typically offers different types of symmetry, such as:

    • Vertical: Mirrors your drawing across a vertical line.
    • Horizontal: Mirrors your drawing across a horizontal line.
    • Radial: Creates a circular pattern. Other options may be available depending on the Fresco version. Select the type of symmetry you want to use.
  4. Adjust the Guide: You can usually move and rotate the symmetry guide to position the mirrored effect where you want it on the canvas. This allows you to customize the center point and angle of the symmetry.

  5. Start Drawing: Once you've positioned the guide, start drawing on one side of the symmetry line (or within the radial pattern). Your strokes will be automatically mirrored on the other side, creating a symmetrical design.

  6. (Optional) Jitter: Some versions of Fresco may offer "Jitter" settings. This allows for slight variations in the mirrored strokes to add a more organic or hand-drawn feel. Experiment with these settings to achieve your desired effect.
