There are a few easy ways to select an artboard in Adobe Illustrator.
Methods for Selecting an Artboard
Here are the primary methods you can use:
-
Using the Artboard Tool: This is the most direct method.
- Select the Artboard Tool from the Tools panel. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Shift + O.
- Once the tool is active, simply click on the artboard you want to select. The selected artboard will be highlighted with a bounding box.
-
Using the Properties Panel:
- If the Properties panel isn't visible, go to Window > Properties.
- With no objects selected on any artboard, the Properties panel will display artboard options.
- Click the "Artboards" button.
- This will open the Artboards panel, where you can click on the name of the artboard you wish to select. This will activate that artboard.
-
Using the Artboards Panel: This is a dedicated panel for managing artboards.
- Go to Window > Artboards to open the Artboards panel.
- In the panel, click on the name of the artboard you want to select. Illustrator will then select and focus on that artboard in your workspace.
What Happens After Selection
Once an artboard is selected, you can:
- Move it: Click and drag the artboard with the Artboard tool.
- Resize it: Click and drag the handles on the artboard's bounding box.
- Edit Artboard Options: Use the Properties panel (Window > Properties) to change artboard dimensions, orientation, and other settings.
By using these methods, you can effectively manage and work with your artboards in Illustrator.
