Unlocking a locked layer in InDesign is a simple process done through the Layers panel. Here's how:
-
Open the Layers Panel: If the Layers panel isn't visible, go to
Window > Layers
. This will display the Layers panel, usually docked on the right side of your InDesign workspace. -
Locate the Locked Layer: Within the Layers panel, find the layer you want to unlock. Locked layers are indicated by a lock icon next to the layer's name.
-
Click the Lock Icon: Click on the lock icon directly to the left of the layer's name. This will remove the lock icon, signifying that the layer is now unlocked and editable.
Once the lock icon disappears, you can now select and modify objects on that layer. Remember to lock layers when you're finished working on them to prevent accidental edits.
