To change the default video transition in Premiere Pro, you need to select the desired transition and then designate it as the default. Here's how:
-
Open the Effects Panel: Go to the "Effects" panel within Premiere Pro. If you don't see it, go to
Window > Effects
. -
Locate the Desired Transition: In the Effects panel, navigate to
Video Transitions
. Browse through the different transition categories (e.g., Dissolve, Wipe, Slide) and find the transition you want to set as the default. -
Set as Default: Right-click (or Ctrl-click on macOS) on the desired video transition.
-
Select "Set Selected as Default Transition": From the context menu that appears, choose the option "Set Selected as Default Transition."
Now, whenever you apply a default transition (using the keyboard shortcut or menu command), Premiere Pro will use the transition you've selected. This applies to both video and audio transitions, you just need to select the right type of transition before setting it as default. Remember to choose an audio transition from the Audio Transitions
section if you want to change the default audio transition.
