To create a new swatch in Affinity Designer or Photo, you'll essentially be adding a color to your chosen palette. Here's how:
-
Select a color: Use the Color panel (usually found on the right side of the interface) or the Color Picker tool to choose the desired color you want to save as a swatch. Ensure that you've selected an object or are in a context where a color can be actively defined (e.g., a shape's fill).
-
Add to Palette:
- Navigate to the Swatches panel. It's often grouped with the Color panel or accessible through the "View" menu, then "Studio," and finally "Swatches."
- Within the Swatches panel, you'll typically see the current document palette or a default palette.
- Look for a button or option to "Add Current Fill to Palette" (the exact wording may vary slightly depending on your version of Affinity). Clicking this will add the currently selected color to the active palette as a new swatch. Some versions also allow you to drag the color from the Color panel directly into the Swatches panel.
Now you have a new swatch based on your chosen color readily available for use throughout your project.
