It generally becomes harder to get in shape around your 40s, and potentially even beyond 35, if you aren't already maintaining a fit lifestyle.

While it's never impossible to get in shape at any age, physiological changes that occur as we age can make the process more challenging after 35-40. These changes impact factors crucial for fitness, such as muscle mass, metabolism, and hormone levels.

Here's a breakdown of why it can be harder to get in shape as you age:

  • Decreased Muscle Mass (Sarcopenia): After around age 30, most people begin to lose muscle mass. This process accelerates with age, particularly if you're not actively working to maintain muscle. Less muscle mass means a slower metabolism.
