How to use a carbon filter?

Published in Air Filtration 2 mins read

Carbon filters are primarily used to remove odors from the air. You can use a carbon filter by mounting it to the intake side of a fan.

Mounting and Setup

To effectively use a carbon filter for odor control, follow these steps:

  • Mounting: Attach the carbon filter to the intake side of your fan.
    • Use a rubber coupler or ducting to connect the filter and fan securely.
  • Placement: Place the filter and fan setup inside your growing area.
  • Air Circulation: Ensure the fan is actively pulling air through the carbon filter.
  • No External Ducting: Do not duct the fan's output outside the grow area. Instead, allow the fan to circulate the filtered air within the grow space.

This configuration allows the carbon filter to continuously "scrub" the air within the grow area, removing unwanted odors.

How it Works

  • The fan draws in air from your grow space.
  • The air passes through the carbon filter, where odors are trapped.
  • Cleaned air is then circulated back into the grow area.
  • This continuous process ensures that the air is consistently scrubbed.

Benefits of This Method

  • Odor Control: Effectively eliminates odors within the growing area.
  • Continuous Filtration: Provides ongoing air scrubbing.
  • Simple Setup: Easy to mount and manage.

By setting up a carbon filter system in this way, you can maintain a clean and odor-free growing environment.
