How Do You Access Settings on AirPods?

Published in AirPods Configuration 2 mins read

To access settings for your AirPods, you don't directly "press" settings on the AirPods themselves. Instead, you access the settings through your connected device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac). Here's how:

Accessing AirPods Settings on iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open the Settings app: Locate and open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Navigate to Bluetooth: Scroll down and tap on "Bluetooth."

  3. Find Your AirPods: In the list of Bluetooth devices, locate your AirPods. Ensure they are connected to your device.

  4. Tap the "i" Icon: Next to your AirPods name, you'll see a small "i" icon (for information). Tap on this icon.

  5. AirPods Settings: This will take you to the settings page specifically for your AirPods. Here, you can customize various options such as:

    • Name: Change the name of your AirPods.
    • Double-Tap Actions: Customize what happens when you double-tap either AirPod (e.g., Siri, play/pause, skip tracks).
    • Automatic Ear Detection: Enable or disable automatic ear detection.
    • Microphone: Choose which AirPod to use as the microphone.
    • Noise Control (for AirPods Pro and Max): Adjust noise cancellation or transparency mode.
    • Accessibility: Configure various accessibility features.
    • About: View the firmware version and other information.

Accessing AirPods Settings on a Mac:

  1. Connect Your AirPods: Ensure your AirPods are connected to your Mac via Bluetooth.

  2. Open System Preferences: Go to the Apple menu and choose "System Preferences."

  3. Select Bluetooth: In System Preferences, click on "Bluetooth."

  4. Find Your AirPods: Locate your AirPods in the list of Bluetooth devices.

  5. Options or Details: Depending on your macOS version, you might see an "Options" button or need to right-click (or Control-click) on your AirPods and select "Details..." or "Options."

  6. AirPods Settings: This will open the settings window where you can adjust options similar to those available on iPhone/iPad.

Essentially, you use the Bluetooth settings of your paired Apple device to configure your AirPods.
