What is Knee Extension?

Knee extension is the straightening of the leg at the knee joint, moving it from a bent (flexed) position to a straight position.

In simpler terms, it's what happens when you kick your leg out straight in front of you. It's the action of unbending the knee. Typically, knee extension refers to returning the leg to a neutral, straight position where the leg is aligned.

However, in some instances, knee extension can go beyond this neutral point, leading to hyperextension. Hyperextension is when the knee bends slightly backward, beyond its normal range of motion.
