What Nerve is the Jaw Tooth?

Published in Anatomy 1 min read

The nerve responsible for sensation in the jaw teeth (mandibular teeth) is the mandibular nerve.

The mandibular nerve is a major branch of the trigeminal nerve (cranial nerve V), which is responsible for sensation in the face and motor functions such as chewing. The mandibular nerve provides sensory innervation to the lower teeth, gums, lower lip, and part of the tongue. It also controls the muscles of mastication (chewing).

Therefore, when you experience pain, temperature, or pressure in your lower teeth, the mandibular nerve is responsible for transmitting those sensations to your brain.
