The name Indraprastha is significant as it refers to the city where the Pandavas resided, according to the ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata. Over time, many other cities developed around Indraprastha. These included:

- Siri
- Dinpanah
- Quila Rai Pithora
- Ferozabad
- Jahanpanah

- Shahjahanabad
