Who Destroyed Taxila?

Published in Ancient History 1 min read

The White Huns and Alchon Huns are primarily credited with destroying Taxila.

Around 470 CE, these groups swept through the Gandhara region and Punjab, inflicting significant damage. This invasion resulted in the destruction of Taxila's renowned Buddhist monasteries and stupas. This devastation marked a point of no return for the city, from which it never truly recovered. The destruction effectively ended Taxila's role as a major center of learning and culture in the region.
