How to Take a Video of Your Screen on Android

Published in Android Screen Recording 3 mins read

Taking a video of your screen on Android is straightforward using the built-in screen recording feature accessible from your Quick Settings.

Recording Your Android Screen

Most modern Android devices have a native screen recording tool readily available. You can access it through the Quick Settings menu, which provides shortcuts to frequently used features.

Here's how to initiate a screen recording based on the provided reference:

  1. Swipe down twice from the very top edge of your Android screen. This action fully expands your Quick Settings panel.
  2. Look for the Screen record button or tile. It might be immediately visible or you may need to swipe left or right across the Quick Settings pages to locate it.
  3. Tap the Screen record button to start the recording process. You might see a brief countdown before it begins.

Once activated, your phone will start capturing everything displayed on your screen, including actions like opening apps, scrolling, or interacting with content.

If You Can't Find the Screen Record Button

If the Screen record option is not immediately visible in your Quick Settings panel, it might need to be added from the available, hidden tiles.

  • Within the Quick Settings panel (after swiping down twice), look for an Edit button or an icon that looks like a pencil.
  • Tap Edit. This will show you your current Quick Settings tiles and other available tiles you can add.
  • Find the Screen record tile among the available options.
  • Tap and hold the Screen record tile, then drag it upwards into your active Quick Settings area.
  • Once added, you can then use the steps above to start a recording.

Tips for Screen Recording

  • Before you start, make sure your screen is set up the way you want it for the recording.
  • When you are finished, typically you can stop the recording by swiping down from the top again and tapping the screen recording notification or stop button in the Quick Settings.
  • Recorded videos are usually saved automatically to your phone's gallery or video folder.

This built-in feature is a convenient way to create tutorials, capture app interactions, or save important moments happening on your screen without needing third-party apps.
