How do I export animation settings from Clip Studio Paint?

Published in Animation Export 2 mins read

To export your animation from Clip Studio Paint, you'll primarily export the animation itself as an image sequence or movie, rather than discrete "settings." The steps below outline how to export the animation frames.

Here's how you export an animation as an image sequence:

  1. Go to the File menu.

  2. Select Export animation.

  3. Choose Image sequence... This opens the "Image sequence export settings" dialog box.

  4. Image sequence export settings dialog: Configure your desired settings within the dialog box. This includes:

    • File name: Choose the name for the exported image files. Clip Studio Paint will automatically append sequential numbers to the end of the name for each frame (e.g., "Animation_0001.png," "Animation_0002.png," etc.).
    • File format: Select the desired image format (e.g., PNG, JPG, TIFF, etc.). PNG is generally recommended for animation frames as it supports transparency and is lossless.
    • Output folder: Choose the location where you want to save the exported images.
    • Export range: Define what part of the timeline you wish to export. You can export all frames, a specified range, or only the current frame.
    • Size settings: Set the dimensions of the output images. Consider the intended use of the animation and the desired quality when choosing the size.
    • Frame number: Set a start frame number if you need to.
  5. Tap OK to begin exporting the sequentially numbered images.

Once the image sequence is exported, you can import it into video editing software or another animation program to compile it into a movie file (e.g., MP4, AVI, MOV).

You can also export as a movie directly from Clip Studio Paint.

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Export animation.
  3. Choose Movie...

This allows you to directly export to formats such as .mp4 or .avi. You will have options regarding frame rate, size, and export range.
