To use your fingerprint (Touch ID or Face ID, depending on your device) for purchases and downloads in the App Store, you need to set it up in your iPhone's settings. Here's how:
-
Set up Touch ID or Face ID (if you haven't already):
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Touch ID & Passcode (or Face ID & Passcode on newer devices).
- Enter your passcode.
- Tap Add a Fingerprint and follow the on-screen instructions to register your fingerprint. The process is the same when setting up Face ID, but you will be registering your facial features instead of your fingerprint.
-
Enable Touch ID or Face ID for iTunes & App Store:
- In the Touch ID & Passcode (or Face ID & Passcode) settings, make sure the iTunes & App Store toggle is switched to the on position (green).
Once this is enabled, you'll be able to use your fingerprint or facial recognition to authenticate purchases, downloads, and in-app purchases in the App Store, instead of entering your Apple ID password every time.
