How to Download Apps Using Touch ID?

Published in App Store Purchases 2 mins read

You can use Touch ID to authorize app downloads and purchases on your Apple device, providing a quick and secure alternative to typing your Apple ID password.

Enabling Touch ID for App Store Purchases

  1. Access Settings: Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Navigate to Touch ID & Passcode: Scroll down and tap on Touch ID & Passcode. You'll likely need to authenticate with your device passcode.
  3. Enable iTunes & App Store: Locate the iTunes & App Store option and toggle it ON.

Downloading Apps with Touch ID

  1. Open the App Store: Launch the App Store app.
  2. Find Your App: Browse and locate the app you wish to download.
  3. Initiate Download: Tap the Get button (or price if it's a paid app).
  4. Authenticate with Touch ID: Place your finger on the Touch ID sensor. Your fingerprint will authorize the download or purchase.

Note: If Touch ID is not working, ensure it is correctly configured and your finger is properly positioned on the sensor. If issues persist, refer to Apple Support resources for troubleshooting. In some cases, you may need to temporarily disable Touch ID for App Store purchases and re-enable it. You can also choose to always enter your password instead of using Touch ID by turning off the "iTunes & App Store" toggle in settings.
