To use your fingerprint (Touch ID) for App Store purchases, you need to enable it in your iPhone or iPad settings. Here's how:
- Open Settings: Locate and tap the "Settings" app on your device.
- Navigate to Touch ID & Passcode (or Face ID & Passcode): Scroll down and tap on either "Touch ID & Passcode" (on older iPhones with a Home button) or "Face ID & Passcode" (on newer iPhones without a Home button).
- Enter Your Passcode: You'll be prompted to enter your passcode for security.
- Toggle iTunes & App Store On: Look for the "iTunes & App Store" option within the Touch ID/Face ID settings. Make sure the toggle switch next to it is turned on (green).
Now, when you make purchases in the App Store, you should be prompted to use your fingerprint or Face ID instead of entering your Apple ID password.
Troubleshooting:
- Fingerprint Not Recognized: If your fingerprint isn't being recognized, try re-adding your fingerprint in the Touch ID/Face ID settings. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (or Face ID & Passcode) and follow the instructions to add a new fingerprint.
- Touch ID/Face ID Not Working at All: If Touch ID or Face ID isn't working at all, make sure your finger or face is clean and dry. Also, ensure that the Home button (on older iPhones) or the TrueDepth camera (on newer iPhones) is clean and unobstructed. Restarting your device can sometimes resolve these issues as well.
- Incorrect Passcode Attempts: Too many incorrect passcode attempts can disable Touch ID/Face ID. If this happens, you'll need to enter your Apple ID password to make purchases.
