How do I enable my Apple ID password?

Published in Apple ID Security 2 mins read

To "enable" your Apple ID password (meaning to set or change it), follow these steps:

  1. Tap Settings: On your iPhone or iPad, locate and tap the "Settings" app icon.
  2. Tap [Your Name]: At the top of the Settings menu, you should see your name. Tap on it. This will open your Apple ID settings.
  3. Tap Sign-In & Security: Within the Apple ID settings, find and tap the "Sign-In & Security" option.
  4. Tap Change Password: On the Sign-In & Security screen, tap "Change Password."
  5. Enter Your Current Password or Device Passcode: You will be prompted to enter either your current Apple ID password or your device passcode (the one you use to unlock your iPhone or iPad).
  6. Enter a New Password and Confirm: Enter your desired new password in the provided fields. Make sure it meets the password requirements displayed on the screen (usually a minimum length and a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers). Confirm your new password by entering it again in the confirmation field.
  7. Tap Change or Save: After entering and confirming your new password, tap the "Change" or "Save" button (the wording may vary slightly depending on your iOS/iPadOS version).

Your Apple ID password is now enabled or changed to the new password you set. Make sure to remember your new password and keep it secure.
