Unfortunately, you can't delete your Apple Music account entirely in the sense of removing your Apple ID or data permanently from Apple's systems. However, you can cancel your Apple Music subscription and effectively stop using the service. Here's how:
-
Open Settings: On your iPhone or iPad, locate and open the "Settings" app.
-
Tap Your Name (Apple ID): At the top of the Settings menu, you'll see your name and Apple ID. Tap on it.
-
Tap Subscriptions: On the Apple ID screen, find and tap the "Subscriptions" option.
-
Tap Apple Music (under Active): You'll see a list of your active subscriptions. Find "Apple Music" and tap on it.
-
Tap Cancel Subscription: At the bottom of the Apple Music subscription details screen, you should see an option to "Cancel Subscription." Tap this. You may be prompted to confirm your cancellation.
Important Considerations:
- Canceling vs. Deleting: Canceling your subscription will stop future billing and remove access to Apple Music content. It does not delete your Apple ID or any music you've purchased through iTunes. Your listening history and preferences may be retained by Apple.
- Subscription End Date: When you cancel, your Apple Music subscription will continue until the next billing date. You can continue to use the service until then.
- Rejoining: You can resubscribe to Apple Music at any time.
- Family Sharing: If you're part of a Family Sharing plan and someone else is managing the Apple Music subscription, you may not be able to cancel it directly. You'll need to contact the family organizer.
- Data Privacy: Apple retains some data even after you cancel your subscription, but you can review Apple's privacy policies for information on what data is collected and how it's used: Apple Privacy Policy.
