How to Share Audio on Apple Music?

Published in Apple Music 2 mins read

To share audio on Apple Music, specifically allowing someone to listen to the same audio you're listening to through compatible headphones, follow these steps:

Here's how you share audio:

  1. Access Now Playing Controls: On your iPhone, tap the Now Playing controls. You can find these either within the Apple Music app while something is playing or directly on the Lock screen.

  2. Alternative Access via Control Center: Alternatively, open Control Center. You can do this by swiping down from the top-right corner of your screen (on iPhones with Face ID) or swiping up from the bottom of your screen (on iPhones with a Home button).

  3. Access Audio Sharing: In Control Center, touch and hold the Now Playing controls located at the top right, then tap the audio sharing icon (usually depicted as an AirPlay icon or a headphones icon with radiating lines).

  4. Initiate Sharing: Tap "Share Audio" which appears below the name of your connected earphones or headphones (e.g., AirPods or Beats).

Now, another person with compatible headphones can connect to your device and listen to the same audio stream.

Important Notes:

  • This feature relies on Bluetooth connectivity, so ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
  • Both devices must be compatible with audio sharing (typically newer AirPods, Beats headphones, and iPhones).
  • The person you are sharing with needs to bring their headphones close to your iPhone for the connection to initiate.
