How Do I Close Apps on My Apple Watch?

Published in Apple Watch Apps 1 min read

To close apps on your Apple Watch, you need to access the App Switcher, then manually close the desired app. Here's how:

  1. Double-Press the Digital Crown: Quickly press the Digital Crown (the round button on the side of the watch) twice. This will open the App Switcher, displaying the apps currently running or recently used.

  2. Swipe to Locate the App: Swipe left or right on the screen to scroll through the apps in the App Switcher until you find the app you want to close.

  3. Close the App: Once you've found the app, swipe it to the left. A red 'X' (or a white cross in a red circle on newer watchOS versions) will appear. Tap on this 'X' or cross to force quit the app.

Important Note: Closing apps frequently is generally not necessary. watchOS is designed to manage apps efficiently, suspending them in the background to conserve battery life. Only close apps that are unresponsive or causing issues.
