How to Switch an Apple Watch?

Published in Apple Watch Management 2 mins read

To switch between multiple Apple Watches, you'll need to manage them through the Apple Watch app on your paired iPhone. Here's how:

Steps to Switch Your Apple Watch

Here's a breakdown of the process to switch which Apple Watch is active:

  1. Open the Apple Watch App: Start by launching the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. This is the central hub for managing your Apple Watch devices.

  2. Navigate to All Watches: In the app, tap "My Watch" at the bottom. Next, tap "All Watches" which is usually located at the top of the screen. This will display a list of all Apple Watches paired with your iPhone.

  3. Turn Off Auto Switch & Choose a Watch: To manually select a different watch, you need to turn off the "Auto Switch" option. Once this is disabled, you can then choose the specific Apple Watch you want to use from the list. The chosen watch will become your active watch.

Practical Considerations

  • Automatic Switching: By default, your Apple Watch may automatically switch based on which one you're wearing. If you prefer manual control, turn off "Auto Switch".
  • Multiple Watches: This process is particularly useful if you own more than one Apple Watch, such as a newer model and an older one.
  • iCloud Account: Make sure all of your watches are associated with the same iCloud account on your iPhone.

Example

Let's say you have an Apple Watch Series 9 and an Apple Watch SE. If the Series 9 is currently active and you want to use the SE, follow the steps above to choose the SE from the "All Watches" list in the Apple Watch app.
