How Do I Change My Apple Watch to Home Screen?

Published in Apple Watch Navigation 2 mins read

To return to the Home Screen on your Apple Watch, simply press the Digital Crown.

Your Apple Watch uses the Digital Crown as a primary navigation tool. Think of it as the "home" button in this context. Pressing it will take you back from any open app or menu to the Home Screen, where you can then see all your installed apps.

Here's a breakdown:

  • From an App: If you're currently using an app, pressing the Digital Crown will close the app and take you back to the Home Screen.

  • From within Menus: If you're navigating through settings or other menus within an app or the Apple Watch operating system, pressing the Digital Crown will generally take you back one step in the menu hierarchy. Repeatedly pressing it will eventually return you to the Home Screen.

  • Switching Home Screen Views (Optional): While pressing the Digital Crown always gets you to the Home Screen, you can choose how your Home Screen appears. You have two layout options:

    • Grid View (Honeycomb): This displays your apps as a cluster of circular icons.
    • List View: This displays your apps in an alphabetical list.

You can change this view in the Watch app on your iPhone:

    1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
    2. Tap App View.
    3. Choose either Grid View or List View.

So, remember, a single press of the Digital Crown is all it takes to get back to the Home Screen on your Apple Watch!
