To completely erase all data and settings from your Apple Watch, effectively "emptying" it, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
- Navigate to General > Reset.
- Tap "Erase All Content and Settings." You'll be prompted to enter your passcode.
- If your Apple Watch has cellular service, you'll be given the option to keep or remove your cellular plan. Choose accordingly.
- Wait for the process to complete. Once finished, your Apple Watch will be reset to factory settings. You can then set it up again as a new device, or if you're selling or giving it away, simply power it off.
This process removes all personal data, settings, and apps from the device, leaving it in a pristine state, as described in the Apple Support documentation: https://support.apple.com/en-us/108372 and https://support.apple.com/guide/watch/unpair-and-erase-apple-watch-apd4ad3571d9/watchos.
Remember that this is a complete reset. All your data will be lost unless it's backed up. If you only need to delete specific content, like messages, you will need to use the respective app's delete functionality (there is no 'delete all' for Messages on the watch itself). Managing storage space for music or other media requires deleting content through the associated app (e.g. the Music app). Removing watch faces does not "empty" the watch but simply changes the display.
