How do I turn off activity on Apple Watch Ultra?

Published in Apple Watch 2 mins read

The most common interpretation of "turning off activity" on your Apple Watch Ultra refers to ending a workout. Here's how to end a workout, which effectively stops tracking activity:

Ending a Workout on Apple Watch Ultra:

When you finish your workout:

  1. Swipe right on your Apple Watch display.
  2. Tap the "End" button.
  3. The watch will display a workout summary. Turn the Digital Crown to scroll through the results, such as calories burned, distance, and time.
  4. Tap the "Done" at the top of the summary screen to save the workout. If you do not want to save the workout data, you can usually find an option to discard it instead.

Important Considerations:

  • Pausing vs. Ending: If you only want to take a break, you can pause a workout by swiping right and tapping the "Pause" button. You can then resume it later.
  • Removing the Activity App: You cannot completely "turn off" the Activity app. It's a core part of the watch's functionality. However, you can customize the Activity app to better suit your needs (see below).

Customizing the Activity App (If you want to reduce activity tracking):

While you can't eliminate activity tracking entirely, you can minimize its impact:

  • Turn off Stand Reminders: On your iPhone, go to the Watch app > Activity and toggle off Stand Reminders. This will stop the watch from reminding you to stand each hour.
  • Adjust Move Goal: In the Activity app on your Apple Watch, you can adjust your daily move goal to something more achievable or less demanding.
  • Mute Notifications: Customize the Activity app notifications in the Watch app on your iPhone to reduce interruptions. Go to Watch app > Notifications > Activity.
