How do you use Aqua Safe in an aquarium?

Published in Aquarium Water Treatment 2 mins read

To use Tetra AquaSafe® in your aquarium, add eight drops of the solution per one gallon of water. This neutralizes harmful substances present in tap water, making it safe for your fish.

Here's a breakdown of how to use AquaSafe effectively:

  • Dosage: The recommended dosage is 8 drops of Tetra AquaSafe® per 1 U.S. gallon (3.8 liters) of tap water.
  • Application: Add AquaSafe whenever you:
    • Set up a new aquarium.
    • Perform a water change.
    • Add tap water to your aquarium.
  • Bottle Type: The 3.3-ounce size bottle typically has a built-in dropper, making accurate dosing easier.
  • Example: For a 2-gallon aquarium, you would add 16 drops of Tetra AquaSafe®.

Why use AquaSafe?

Tap water contains chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals that are toxic to fish. AquaSafe works by:

  • Neutralizing chlorine and chloramine.
  • Binding heavy metals.
  • Adding essential electrolytes that fish need.

Important Considerations:

  • Always follow the dosage instructions on the AquaSafe bottle. Overdosing can be harmful to your fish.
  • AquaSafe is designed to be used with tap water. If you are using well water, you may need to test it to determine if any other water treatments are necessary.
  • When performing water changes, avoid changing more than 25% of the water at a time to minimize stress on your fish.
