How do you paste artificial grass?

Published in Artificial Turf Installation 2 mins read

Pasting artificial grass, especially at the seams, requires care to prevent the grass blades from getting stuck in the adhesive. Here's a guide:

Preparing for the Paste

Before you begin, ensure you have the right materials:

  • Artificial grass sections
  • Seaming tape or adhesive backing
  • Appropriate adhesive or glue
  • Weight to secure the paste
  • WD-40 (for cleaning up misplaced glue)

Step-by-Step Pasting Process

  1. Align the Seams: Carefully place the two pieces of artificial grass edge to edge. Make sure the grass blades are aligned for a seamless look.
  2. Apply Adhesive: Gently apply the adhesive, ensuring you are going slow and that the blades of grass do not get stuck in the glue. If you are using seaming tape, follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.
  3. Press and Secure: Carefully press down the seams, ensuring a secure bond. You can place weights on the seam to secure the pieces together during the curing process.
  4. Clean Excess Glue: If any adhesive gets onto the grass blades, you can clean it with WD-40 to avoid them sticking together.

Tips for Success

  • Work Slowly: When applying adhesive, work carefully and avoid getting glue on the grass blades.
  • Clean Up Immediately: WD-40 is helpful for removing adhesive from the grass blades quickly.
  • Use Appropriate Weight: Use weight to secure the seam while it is curing so the pieces of grass stay together.
