How Many Earths Can Fit in the Sun?

Published in Astronomy 1 min read

Approximately 1,300,000 planet Earths can fit inside the Sun.

The Sun's immense size relative to Earth allows for a staggering number of Earth-sized planets to be contained within its volume. To further illustrate this point:

  • The Sun weighs about 333,000 times as much as the Earth.
  • This vast difference in size is a key reason why so many Earths can be accommodated.
  • Consider the Sun as a large sphere, and Earth as a much smaller sphere; the volumetric ratio explains the significant difference.

While this number is impressive, it's important to remember that packing planets perfectly isn't possible in reality. Some space would be wasted. The figure of 1,300,000 provides a good approximation of the sheer scale difference between the Sun and the Earth.
