Is Titan Warm or Cold?

Published in Astronomy 1 min read

Titan is extremely cold.

Titan, Saturn's largest moon, has a surface temperature that averages around minus 290 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 180 degrees Celsius). This frigid environment is due to its great distance from the Sun and its dense atmosphere, which scatters sunlight, preventing much solar heat from reaching the surface. At these temperatures, substances that are gases on Earth, like methane and ethane, exist as liquids and solids on Titan, forming rivers, lakes, and even rain.
