In which layer does an aeroplane fly?

Published in Atmospheric Layers 1 min read

Most aeroplanes fly in the troposphere, the lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere. It extends up to approximately 11 km above sea level. This is where most of the Earth's weather occurs, and it's also where the air is densest, providing the lift needed for aeroplanes to fly. While some aeroplanes may briefly enter the stratosphere, which is above the troposphere, they primarily operate within the troposphere.
