How to Remove Selection Properties in AutoCAD?

Published in AutoCAD Selection 1 min read

To remove objects from a selection set in AutoCAD, press and hold the Shift key while selecting the objects you want to deselect.

Here's a breakdown of how it works:

  • Initial Selection: You've already selected one or more objects in AutoCAD, either by clicking them individually or using a window/crossing selection.

  • Removing from Selection:

    • Hold Shift: Press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard.
    • Select to Deselect: While holding Shift, click on the object(s) you want to remove from the current selection. You can also use a window or crossing selection while holding Shift to remove multiple objects at once.
    • Release Shift: Once you've deselected the desired objects, release the Shift key. Your selection set will now only include the objects you didn't click on while holding Shift.

This method allows you to refine your selection without having to start over, saving you time and effort. It's especially useful when working with complex drawings where accidentally selecting the wrong objects is common.
