How Do I Delete Drawing History in AutoCAD?

Published in AutoCAD Settings 1 min read

To clear your drawing history in AutoCAD, effectively removing the list of recently used files, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Options Dialog: Type OPTIONS on the command line and press Enter. This will open the Options dialog box.

  2. Navigate to Open and Save Tab: In the Options dialog box, click on the "Open and Save" tab.

  3. Set Recent File List to Zero: In the "File Open" section, find the "Number of recently used files" setting and change its value to 0 (zero). Also, in the "Application Menu" section, find the "Number of recently used files" setting and change its value to 0 (zero) as well.

  4. Apply Changes: Click the "Apply" button to save the changes.

  5. Confirm and Exit: Click "OK" to close the Options dialog box.

By setting both "Number of recently used files" options to zero, you prevent AutoCAD from storing any drawing history, effectively clearing it. The next time you open AutoCAD, the list of recently used files will be empty.
