Creating a custom palette in AutoCAD allows you to organize your favorite tools, blocks, and commands for quick access.

Steps to Create Your Custom AutoCAD Palette

To create a new, empty custom palette within AutoCAD's Tool Palettes window, follow these straightforward steps:

  1. Open the Tool Palettes Window: First, you need to display the Tool Palettes on your screen. The quickest way to do this is by using a keyboard shortcut. Hold down the CTRL key and press the number 3. This action will bring up the Tool Palettes window.
  2. Access the Context Menu: Once the Tool Palettes window is visible, you will see several tabs (like Annotation, Architecture, etc.) by default. To create your own custom palette folder, right click on anyone of the Tabs that are already present.
  3. Select "New Palette": From the context menu that appears after right-clicking on a tab, select the "New Palette" option.
  4. Rename Your Palette: A new, empty tab will appear with a default name (like "Palette1"). The reference states, "Once you select new palette rename accordingly." Click on the default name of the new palette tab and type in the desired name for your custom palette. Press Enter to confirm the new name.

Your new, empty custom palette tab is now created and ready for you to add your preferred tools, commands, and blocks to it.

This method provides a clean slate for you to populate with the elements you use most frequently, streamlining your workflow in AutoCAD.
