How to Get RTGS Number?

Published in Banking Transactions 1 min read

The RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement) number, more accurately known as the UTR (Unique Transaction Reference) number, is provided after you initiate an RTGS transaction.

Here's how you typically receive the UTR number:

  • Transaction Receipt: When you initiate an RTGS transfer at a bank branch, you will receive a transaction receipt. This receipt contains the UTR number, along with other essential details such as the amount transferred, the date and time of the transaction, and the beneficiary account number.

In short, the UTR number is given to the sender of the RTGS transaction by the bank after the transaction is processed. It's not something you "get" in advance, but rather a confirmation provided after initiating the transfer.
