Is amoeba male or female?

Published in Biology 1 min read

Amoeba do not have a defined sex as they reproduce asexually.

Amoebas are single-celled eukaryotic organisms that primarily reproduce through asexual reproduction. The most common method is binary fission, where the cell divides into two identical daughter cells. Because this process doesn't involve the fusion of gametes (sex cells), amoebas do not possess male or female sexes. They simply replicate their genetic material and divide. While some related Amoebozoan groups are known to exchange genetic material, sexual reproduction hasn't been directly observed in Amoeba itself.
