How to Undo Action in Blender?

Published in Blender Undo 1 min read

To undo an action in Blender, press Ctrl+Z (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Z (macOS).

Blender provides several ways to undo actions, offering flexibility based on your needs:

  • Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z: This is the standard undo command. Press it repeatedly to step back through your recent actions.

  • Redo (Ctrl+Shift+Z / Cmd+Shift+Z): If you've undone too far, use this to redo actions.

  • Undo History: Blender keeps a history of your actions, allowing you to select a specific state to revert to. You can typically access this via the Edit menu, then "Undo History." The exact location may vary slightly depending on the Blender version.

Keep in mind that some operations, especially those involving scripts or complex calculations, might not be fully undoable. It's always a good practice to save your work frequently (Ctrl+S / Cmd+S) and create incremental saves (e.g., "MyProject_v01.blend," "MyProject_v02.blend") to protect against irreversible changes.
