Platelets, also known as thrombocytes, are small, colorless cell fragments in our blood. They are essential for blood clotting and wound healing. While they appear dark purple on a stained blood smear, their actual color is cloudy-yellowish when observed in bags of donated platelets. This color difference is due to the staining process used for microscopic examination.
