How to connect Apple keyboard to Windows 11?

Published in Bluetooth Connectivity 2 mins read

Connecting your Apple keyboard to a Windows 11 PC is a straightforward process using Bluetooth. Here's how to do it:

  1. Open Settings: Go to the Start Menu and click on "Settings."
  2. Navigate to Bluetooth & Devices: Within the Settings app, select "Bluetooth & Devices."
  3. Enable Bluetooth: Make sure the Bluetooth toggle is switched to the "On" position. This will allow your Windows 11 PC to discover nearby Bluetooth devices, including your Apple keyboard. Ensure that the "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC" option is enabled if available.
  4. Put Your Apple Keyboard in Pairing Mode:
    • Wireless Keyboards (Magic Keyboard): Turn on your Apple keyboard. It typically enters pairing mode automatically when first turned on or after being reset. If it's already paired with another device, you might need to unpair it first.
    • Wired Keyboards: Skip this step, as they connect directly via the cable.
  5. Pair the Keyboard: In the Bluetooth & Devices settings on your Windows 11 PC, your Apple keyboard should appear in the list of available devices. Click on the keyboard's name and then click the "Pair" button.
  6. Enter Passcode (if prompted): If your Windows 11 PC asks for a passcode, enter the code displayed on your screen using the Apple keyboard and press Enter.
  7. Connection Complete: Your Apple keyboard should now be connected to your Windows 11 PC. You can start using it immediately.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Check Batteries: If your Apple keyboard is not pairing, ensure the batteries are charged (for wireless keyboards).
  • Restart Bluetooth: Try turning Bluetooth off and on again on your Windows 11 PC.
  • Remove and Re-Pair: If you've previously paired the keyboard with another device or your Windows 11 PC, try unpairing it and then repeating the pairing process.
  • Update Drivers: Although usually not necessary, ensure your Bluetooth drivers are up to date in Windows 11. You can find these in Device Manager.
