What is Secret Moon?

Published in Board Games 2 mins read

Secret Moon is Seiji Kanai's take on a Werewolf-like team deduction game and serves as a sequel to his popular card game, Love Letter.

Unlike traditional social deduction games where players openly discuss and debate, Secret Moon focuses on deduction through a limited set of actions available to each player. This silent deduction mechanism sets it apart. In essence, players must figure out who is on which team (good or bad) based solely on the actions they observe and the limited information they receive. This fosters a more strategic and less confrontational gameplay experience.

Here's a breakdown of key features:

  • Team Deduction: Players are secretly assigned to teams (typically good versus evil).
  • Limited Actions: Each player has a small number of actions they can perform during the game.
  • Silent Deduction: No talking or debating is allowed; deduction is based solely on observed actions.
  • Love Letter Sequel: It shares a similar design aesthetic and simple ruleset as Love Letter, making it easy to learn.

The game encourages players to carefully analyze the actions of others, predict their intentions, and ultimately deduce their team affiliation without the benefit of direct communication.
