How do I allow websites on Brave?

Published in Brave Browser Settings 2 mins read

To allow a website on Brave, you'll need to adjust its permissions within the browser's settings. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Website: Open the Brave browser and go to the website you want to allow.

  2. Access Site Settings: Look at the left side of the address bar (where the URL is displayed). You should see an icon indicating the connection security (e.g., a padlock for "Secure," a warning triangle for "Not Secure," or a crossed-out padlock for "Dangerous"). Click on this icon.

  3. Open the Permissions Panel: A dropdown menu will appear. Click on "Site settings." This will take you to the specific settings page for that website.

  4. Adjust Permissions: On the "Site settings" page, you'll see a list of permissions, such as Camera, Microphone, Notifications, Javascript, Cookies, etc. Find the permission you want to change. For example, if you want to allow notifications, select "Allow" from the dropdown menu next to "Notifications".

  5. Changes are Saved Automatically: Brave automatically saves your changes. You don't need to click a "Save" button. The setting will be applied immediately or upon refreshing the page.

Example:

Let's say you want to allow YouTube to send you notifications. You would:

  1. Go to YouTube.com.
  2. Click the padlock icon next to the URL.
  3. Click "Site Settings."
  4. Find "Notifications" in the list.
  5. Change the setting from "Block" or "Ask (default)" to "Allow."

After completing these steps, YouTube will now be able to send you notifications through the Brave browser. Repeat these steps for any other permissions you wish to grant or deny for specific websites.
