Enabling and disabling cookies in Microsoft Edge is straightforward using the browser's settings. Here's how you can manage cookies:

Accessing Cookie Settings

To begin, you need to navigate to Edge's settings menu:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge: Launch the Edge browser on your computer.
  2. Settings and more: In the top-right corner of the browser window, click on the three horizontal dots (...) icon. This opens the "Settings and more" menu.
  3. Select "Settings": From the dropdown menu, click on "Settings".
  4. Navigate to "Cookies and site permissions": In the Settings menu, click on "Cookies and site permissions" in the left-hand panel.
  5. Click on "Manage and delete cookies and site data": On the right, click on "Manage and delete cookies and site data".

Enabling Cookies

To enable cookies in Edge, follow these steps within the "Manage and delete cookies and site data" settings:

  • Allow all cookies: Locate the toggle switch next to "Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended)".
  • Switch it on: Toggle the switch to the ON position to allow all cookies. When the switch is to the right and blue, cookies are enabled.

  • Switch it off: Toggle the switch to the OFF position to disable all cookies. When the switch is to the left and gray, cookies are disabled.

Managing Specific Cookies

Edge also offers options to manage cookies more granularly, such as blocking third-party cookies. Within the "Manage and delete cookies and site data" settings, you will find these options:

  • Block third-party cookies: You have options for blocking only 3rd-party cookies, either generally or in InPrivate browsing sessions.
  • See all cookies and site data: Review all existing cookies that have been stored and delete them as desired.
  • Sites can always use cookies: Add specific websites that you always want to permit cookies.
  • Block: Block cookies from specific websites.
  • Clear cookies on exit: Choose to automatically clear cookies each time you close your browser.

Why Manage Cookies?

  • Privacy: Managing cookies can protect your privacy by limiting tracking.
  • Security: Disabling cookies from untrusted sites enhances security.
  • Performance: Occasionally, clearing cookies can help improve browser performance.
  • Website Functionality: Be aware that disabling all cookies can break some website functionality.

By managing cookies effectively, you can control your browsing privacy and personalize your online experience.
