Kim Taehyung, also known as V, is the person who introduced purple in association with BTS and their fans.
In November 2016, during BTS' third muster (a fan meeting), Kim Taehyung (V) first said "I purple you." He explained that purple signifies trust and love. He chose the color purple to represent the bond between BTS and their fans, ARMY.
