How do I edit the template size in Canva?

Published in Canva Design 2 mins read

To edit the template size in Canva, use the resize option found in the dropdown menu. Specifically, you'll select "Resize" then "Custom Size". This will display the page's current width and height, allowing you to input new dimensions.

Important Note: Resizing is a Canva Pro feature. You cannot resize designs with the free version of Canva.

Steps to Resize in Canva Pro:

  1. Open your design: Access the Canva design you want to resize.
  2. Locate the Resize Option: Click on "File" in the top left corner of the Canva editor. Then, choose "Resize."
  3. Enter Custom Dimensions: In the resize window, select "Custom size" and enter your desired width and height in the provided fields.
  4. Choose your resizing option: You have two options:
    • "Resize": This will change the size of your current design.
    • "Copy & Resize": This will create a copy of your design with the new dimensions, leaving the original untouched.
  5. Click "Resize" or "Copy & Resize": Confirm your choice to apply the new dimensions.

Limitations with the Free Version of Canva:

The free version of Canva does not allow you to directly resize designs. However, you can work around this limitation by creating a new design with the desired dimensions and then copying and pasting elements from your original design into the new one. This can be time-consuming, but it's a viable option if you don't have Canva Pro.
