You can restore a recently deleted page in Canvas using a simple URL trick.
If you have accidentally deleted a page within your Canvas course, don't worry! Canvas provides a way to recover recently deleted items, including pages, through a specific function accessible via the course URL.
Here's how you can restore a deleted page in Canvas, according to the method described:
Steps to Restore a Deleted Canvas Page
This method involves navigating directly to a hidden 'undelete' function within your specific course.
- Go to Your Course Home Page: Start by navigating to the main Home page of the course where the page was deleted.
- Modify the URL: Look at the address bar in your web browser. You will see the URL for your course's home page (e.g.,
canvas.instructure.com/courses/12345
). Carefully type/undelete
at the very end of this URL.- Example: If your course URL is
https://canvas.instructure.com/courses/98765
, you would change it tohttps://canvas.instructure.com/courses/98765/undelete
.
- Example: If your course URL is
- Access the Undelete Page: Press the
Enter
orReturn
key on your keyboard. - Find and Restore: A new page will load displaying a list of items that have been recently deleted from your course. Locate the page you want to restore in this list. Next to the item name, you will see a Restore button. Click this button.
After clicking Restore, the page should be moved back to its original location (or a default location like the "Pages" index) within your course, making it accessible again to you and your students.
This /undelete
feature is a convenient tool for retrieving items deleted in error, saving you the trouble of recreating content from scratch. It's particularly useful for quickly recovering accidentally removed pages, assignments, discussions, or other course elements.
