How to Export Originals from a Session or Catalog in Capture One?

Published in Capture One Export 2 mins read

To export original image files from a session or catalog in Capture One, you use the "Export - Originals" function available through the main menu or a right-click context menu.

Exporting Originals Steps

Exporting originals allows you to save copies of your original image files (like RAWs, JPEGs, etc.) from your Capture One session or catalog to a specified location on your computer or an external drive. Here's how to do it:

  1. Select Your Images or Collection:
    • Choose the specific image or images you want to export from the browser view.
    • Alternatively, you can select a Session Folder, Session Album, or Catalog Collection in the Library tool tab if you want to export all originals within that container.
  2. Access the Export Dialog:
    • Go to the main menu at the top of the Capture One window and select File > Export > Originals….
    • Alternatively, if you selected a folder or collection in the Library, right-click on it and choose Export > Originals… from the context menu options.
  3. Configure Export Settings:
    • The Export dialog window will open. Here, you will specify the destination folder for your exported originals.
    • You will also have options to include adjustments (often as sidecar files), metadata, and other settings depending on your Capture One version and preferences. Configure these as needed.
  4. Initiate Export:
    • Click the "Export" button in the dialog window. Capture One will then copy the selected original files to your chosen location according to your settings.

This process is straightforward and is the standard method in Capture One for extracting your primary image files from your managed session or catalog structure.
